Antitrust developments in South-east Asia: January to March 2022

The first quarter of 2022 was characterised by notable decisions in Indonesia, 乐鱼体育官网 and Singapore. The Indonesia Competition Commission (“KPPU”) determined that the merger between Gojek and Tokopedia did not violate business competition. The 乐鱼体育官网 Federal Court unanimously dismissed the 乐鱼体育官网 Competition Commission’s application for leave to appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision to overturn fines imposed on AirAsia and 乐鱼体育官网n Airline System. In Singapore, the Competition and Consumer Commission (“CCCS”) reviewed and cleared two aviation-related transactions in Phase 1 reviews.
On the policy front, KPPU published findings of its study on cooking oil prices, and the CCCS’s revised Competition Guidelines, with a focus on antitrust enforcement in, among others, the digital age, came into effect. The Trade Competition Commission of Thailand issued new guidelines relating to unfair trade practices.? ?
